League of Provinces supports Villar’s reelection bid

The League of Provinces of the Philippines (LPP), with 81 governors as members, has endorsed the reelection bid of Sen. Cynthia Villar.

During its 8th General Assembly held at Century Park, Manila, and presided over by National Chairman Gov. Al Francis Bichara and National President Gov. Ryan Luis Singson, LPP unanimously approved a resolution supporting the candidacy of Villar for a second term in the Senate.

Misamis Oriental Gov. Bambi Emano, filed the motion citing Villar’s advocacy for livelihood opportunities in the poor areas.

In a speech, Villar thanked the governors for their support and for welcoming her in their respective provinces not only during the campaign period but also in the course of her term as senator.

Villar also cited the active participation of LGUs which is crucial in fast-tracking national government programs.

The Nacionalista Party senator also gave her commitment to continue providing livelihood opportunities especially in poor communities.

In addition to almost 2,000 livelihood programs established all over the country, Villar is looking to build processing centers for bamboo, coconut water, coconut sugar and dairy products for her second term as senator.

Villar also said she will carry on with the advocacy to provide Filipinos with affordable and adequate food as chairperson of the Committee on Agriculture and Food and hopes to continue working closely with local governments in this endeavor.
