Candid Shot: Dia Nicole M. Magno

Binibini Dia Nicole Mangcao Magno has said that she was thrilled the first time she met Stella Marquez Araneta, chair of the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc., which organizes the annual Bb. Pilipinas pageant.

"I met her right away at the submission of the application form. She first welcomed us. And she was thankful of us joining and she have us a good luck sign," said Magno during an exclusive interview recently.

Asked about her fellow candidates, Magno said: "They are very nice. We are basically getting to know one another and so far so good. I don't feel any stress because it is more of very liberating - this is the dream of being in Binibining Pilipinas. And I'm still  going to be fighting for this dream until get the crown and promote my advocacy."

What's the best purchase you've ever made so far?

"I think its my watch. When I graduated in college, it was a fulfillment for me so I wanted something that I can see daily and to remind myself of my achievement."

Who are your heroes?

"My heroes are my parents. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them. I want to mention my mom's strength. She's always with me through every step."

What would be your one super power?

"If I would have a super power, it would be something of healing. I have loved ones and I see them suffering from sickness. It saddens me when your loved one is hurting and you cannot do anything. So it's to heal, to heal love life."

You're having an ideal party. Who will be on your guest list?

"If I would have my own party, first I would contact someone who can help me with my advocacy. People who have the means and the voice to help me with it and also the people who supported me in this journey. I wanna welcome them all and give them a big hug."

What food do you crave most?

"I crave for the Pork Sisig of Gerry's Grill with egg. But I think it would taste better if I will get the crown."

How do you make yourself sleep when you seem you cannot sleep?

"I pray. That's always my technique. If I get stressed or I don't get to sleep, I just pray. I talk to my God."

Should female athletes wear make-up when playing in the field?

"I believe with make-up or without make-up, it all depends. No one should tell them what to do or should not do."

Your biggest disappointment and what did you do to bounce back?

"The only thing that I regret is the 'what ifs' in my life. That's why I really pushed through with Bb. Pilipinas. I hate the feeling of what ifs. And I just want to live life to the fullest."

How do you see yourself 10 years from now?

"Hopefully, helping others. Giving strength to people, most especially to Filipino women. I just wanna say if you have dreams, do it." - ROBERT R. REQUINTINA
