Bakit hindi nag-artista si Senator JV Ejercito?



Si Joseph Victor Gomez Ejercito, kilala bilang JV Ejercito o JV Ejercito Estrada, ay anak ng dating Pangulong Joseph Estrada at San Juan Mayor Guia Gomez.

Sa ngayon ay tumatakbo bilang re-electionist si JV para sa Senado sa ilalim ng Nationalist People's Coalition. Adiopted candidate rin siya ng PDP-Laban. Si JV ang tinaguriang "Father of Universal Health Care."

Sa isang meet-and-greet event para sa entertainment press sa Limbaga 77 Restaurant sa Quezon City kamakailan lamang, sinagot ni JV ang tanong kung bakit hindi siya pumasok sa showbiz tulad ng pinanggalingan ng kanyang mga magulang.

"Hindi naman kasi ako artistahin kaya hindi ako pumasok sa showbiz," ayon kay JV.

Pero sinabi ni JV na malaki ang respeto niya sa industriyang pinanggalingan ng kanyang mga magulang.

"Kung ano man ang maitutulong ko sa showbiz, basta para sa ikagaganda nito, asahan ninyo ang suporta ko," ani JV.

Inamin naman ni JV, 49, na talagang hindi niia linya ang showbiz kaya ipinauubaya na niya ito sa mga kasamahan niya sa Senado na may background sa entertainment.

Sinabi niya na kumg sakaling papasok man ang kanyang mga anak sa showbiz, hindi niya ito hahadlangan at susuportahan niya ito.

"All-out support ako sa mga pangarap ng anak ko. Kung gusto nila ng showbiz, OK lang naman sa akin basta sa ikabubuti nila," ayon kay JV, na tinaguriang Mr. Health Care.


Married si JV kay Ma. Hyacinth Lotuaco at may dalawa silang anak na lalaki - Jose Emilio at Julio Jose.

Nagtapos ng political science sa De La Salle University, si JV ay isang commissioned Reserve Officer ng Philippine Marine Corps, na may rank na Major. Adopted member din siya ng Philippine Military Academy Class '88 Maringal. Tumanggap na rin siya ng parangal bilang Ten Outstanding Young Men for public service and governance noong 2007.

Matatandaang ipinaglaban ni JV ang Senate Bill No. 1869 o ang Universal Health Care Act na ngayon ay naipasa na sa third at final reading. Napirmahan na rin ni President Duterte ang Senate bill at ngayon ay isa na itong batas.

Ang kanyang statement: ''Labis po nating ikinagagalak at taos puso ang ating pasasalamat kay Pangulong Duterte sa kaniyang paglagda ngayong araw at pormal na pagsasabatas ng matagal na nating isinusulong na Universal Health Care;

''The Universal Health Care law will transform the health seeking behavior of Filipinos. UHC makes medical consultation and several basic laboratory tests affordable and accessible. This will allow the people to value their health more by regularly consulting with doctors;

"Bawal magkasakit dahil magastos magkasakit" shall be a thing of the past. Under the UHC law, all Filipinos become automatic members of PhilHealth and are covered by the National Health Insurance Program of the government;

''Ibig sabihin, hindi na mangangamba ang ating mga kababayan tuwing sila'y magkakasakit o sa mga pagkakataon na madapuan ng karamdaman ang kanilang mga mahal sa buhay. Karamay na ang gobyerno sa gastusin at abot-kaya na ang pagpapagamot;

''The UHC is one of the primary reasons I fought for the restoration of almost P16 billion funds for the Health Facilities Enhancement Program and the P7 billion for the Human Resources for Health of the Department of Health in the 2019 national budget;

''We want the completion of constructions and renovations of health facilities of barangay health stations, provincial, regional, and national hospital; and furnish them with all the necessary medical equipment and health professionals they need to be capable of providing primary health care at the grassroots level. This and many more are the noble intentions of the UHC;

''Our work will not stop here. We will ensure the sustainable funding for UHC. We will also continue working with the civil society organizations, medical community and other stakeholders to ensure the success of its implementation.'' - ROBERT REQUINTINA

Janjep Carlos named Mr. Fahrenheit 2019

Janjep Carlos will represent the Philippines in the Mr. Gay World 2019 pageant which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa from April 28-May 5. Carlos, 41, businessman, earned the right to represent the country in the prestigious gay pageant abroad when he won the Mr. Fahrenheit 2019 contest held on E. Rodriguez, Quezon City at dawn March 31. First runners-up honors went to Kevin Garcia and Macky David Belen. This is not the first time that Carlos joined the national search. In 2017, Carlos competed but lost to John Raspado who later captured the Mr. Gay World title in Spain.
