Michelle Marquez Dee tries luck in movies ahead of pageants

For two years now, fashion model Michelle Marquez Dee, the stunning daughter of former Miss International Melanie Marquez, is being encouraged by pageant fans to compete in Bb. Pilipinas beauty contest because of her good looks, charm, and wonderful background.

Pageant fans waited for Dee to file her application form until March 15, deadline for the submission of application in Bb. PIlipinas, but she did not show up.

"I feel very flattered because the support for me is overwhelming. But with the kind of expectations, I wanna make sure that when I step out, I wanna be at my best talaga, my very best. I can honestly say that the timing now is off," said Dee, during the press conference for the movie "Go! La Union" at the Novotel Manila, Araneta Center in Quezon City last Monday. "I know a lot of girls who are running and I am in full support of them."

Dee, 24, recalled that the campaign for her to join the prestigious national pageant began when she joined the modelling industry in 2017.

"I started modelling for Bench. As soon as I started the runway, that's when the people started approaching me and asked me if I wanted to join beauty pageants," she said.

The 5'10 gorgeous model said that her mother is fully aware of the talks that she would join beauty pageants. "She is supportive naman if I will join a national beauty pageant."

Dee said that she also supports her distant relative Julia Saubier, one of 40 official candidates of Bb. Pilipinas 2019 beauty pageant.

Asked if she gave way to her cousin that's why she did not join, Dee said: "I think it's her time to join the pageant. Ang hirap pantayan because I have my mom, I have my cousin."

Rumors have it that Dee might also join the Miss World Philippines pageant, rival contest of Bb. Pilipinas. "I also want that but it's really not the right time."

Dee is a graduate of psychology at the De La Salle University on Taft Avenue in Manila.  For now, Dee said that she wants to focus on modelling and acting.

She debuts in the movie "Go! La Union'' produced by ALV Films in tandem with Benchingko Films and Rein Entertainment.

In the movie, Dee will play a "hot barista" that becomes the object of competition for Derrick Monasterio and Enzo Pineda. It will be shown later this year.

The movie also features some of today's hottest young stars including Kiko Estrada,  David Licauco, Teejay Marquez, Ruru Madrid, Marco Poli, Dominic Roque, Katarina Rodriguez, Cynthia Thomalla, Chanel Morales, Sophia Senoron, Kimi Mugford, etc. - ROBERT REQUINTINA
